Decided on a change in the name. I think that this is the main idea of the tribe. To find a way to encourage imagination and a true love and desire for learning. This is the only way that things are ever going to change for the better. If not we will continue to have closed minded people like bush running things. There are too many people who want to follow a simple set of rules. One of the many problems with this is that there are so many different cultures in the world which means alot of different rules. And if we don't keep an open mind then we may miss out on some great stuff. There are also an endless number of factors that effect every persons life every day.

Today I had an email argument with one of my best friends over the gay rights issue. He does not believe in gay marriage for various reasons. I believe that gay couples should have the same rights as straight people. But I couldn't get ugly and put down his point of view because he is a great person and you have to remember that every persons viewpoint is formed by a myriad of experiences and putting someone down will never get them to agree with you. For one i know that he has never been around many gay people whereas I have close friends that are gay and have had to put up with some horrendous shit for being two women who want to have a baby. And they are amazing people. But so is my buddy. And if I were to dismiss him because he believes something completely different from me then I would have lost alot that I have gained from knowing him. Rambling.........? Yeah what's new. Can I change him? Not likely. But ya never know. And the important thing is to make sure that our kids have open minds. And if we are creative and entertaining enough (yeah entertainment is a better way to get peoples attention than lecturing or arguing) then we might effect enough people to turn the tide. How can we do it? Lot's of ideas. And I would love to hear any that you have, or have heard of or read. I read alot of journals and articles in things like the Utne Reader and Image (actually a Judeo Christian journal, surprisingly openminded and Mother Jones and alot of places online that I find, when I should be working, etc..... But you never have enough time to read all that you want. So if you hear something then share it. Eventually we can organize and set up programs or events in our individual areas to open some minds and let the imagination flow.
