I've been taking care of "difficult" children (so thats how they call them) lattely. Most of them are lost, rejected and are tired of being labelled.
A person I met at Uni who comes from Tokyo as taught me a very good thing:
he gathered the kids around, gave them a peace of paper each and asked them to writte secretly three nice things on each person in the room and handout the paper. It must have took them the morning, but we got there!
He made a list of the things written about them for each chid and handed them out at the end of the day. You will not beleive the surprise and reactions...most of them nearly cried because they wouldn't believe anyone thought good things about them. Everyone kept their list.
Since then, I think their evolution towards others and their reactions have improved spectacularly.
They just needed to hear good things about them...
